This month at WELL, we’re making it our mission to highlight people working to eliminate plastics in the ocean and protect our seas along with the animals that call them home. Now more than ever, we all must be mindful about the effects of our daily actions. The amount of plastic ending up in our oceans and on our beaches is rising at an alarming rate, and it’s threatening the valuable life inside and outside of the water. To help empower YOU to be an at-home eco- warrior, we wanted to share some simple swaps to help you reduce plastic and waste in the home. We hope you’ll find these swaps helpful and easier than you think.
We should all be on a mission to live an eco-friendlier lifestyle because WELL, we’ve only got one planet!
3. SWAP household cleaners with plastic packaging for refillable, eco-friendly products in glass bottles
9. SWAP packaged dry good for bulk, zero waste options– don’t forget to bring your own refillable container when shopping!
11. SWAP new clothes and fast fashion shopping for secondhand and vintage pieces
WELL, editors’ pick for the best secondhand finds is Hula! You can find them in Central on Hollywood Road, in Chuck Hang and online.
15. SWAP impulse purchases and retail binges for buying only what you need and truly love.
This last one is the golden rule for living a more sustainable, plastic free lifestyle. Too often we get caught up in fast consumerism and forget to search for things with meaning that truly bring us joy. Think before you buy and remember that everything that you use has an afterlife. Say NO to plastic and shop wisely!
