One of the most overused phrases in my emails lately has been- “thanks for being patient with me during this crazy time.” Full disclosure… My house feels like a pre-school full of understimulated monkeys. If I had to guess, I’d say that many of you are experiencing something similar. Our work, our social lives, and even our daily outings have changed dramatically over that past few months. Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I truly think that this time to slow down is exactly what we all needed. This month at WELL, we’ve been sharing stories and ideas centred around this idea that slow, mindful living is the best way forward. We’re taking more time to contemplate instead of making decisions based on emotion and ego. We’re slowing down our consumption, and being deliberate about our actions and choices. We’re practicing mindfulness by default. I’m naturally a very positive person. I always challenge myself to look on the bright side and ignore negativity. As a result of this, I find myself with nothing but gratitude for this time that we’re in. I’ve been able to watch my children play more than ever before. I’ve been able to take a stroll on the beach in the middle of my busy day, and I get to work side by side with my husband more often than in the past. My hope is that the stories and tips that we share here help you find peace in the little things and inspire you to let go of negativity. Sooner or later things will go back to feeling like our old normal, and new challenges will arise. As a community it’s my belief that we’re meant to remind one another about all the reasons we should be happy. Together we can find joy, even when times are tough!
