Shop Local! 7 Women-Owned Businesses in Hong Kong that you should know about
In our beloved, fast paced Hong Kong it’s easy to get caught up in fast paced consumerism. At WELL, we are on a mission to highlight local companies to help you in your search to bring meaningful items into your life, while supporting the people around you. We believe strongly that slowing down and educating yourself about where to shop and who you’re buying from is the best way to minimise buyer’s remorse as well as cluttered houses and wardrobes.
We’ve compiled a list of some women who have worked hard to grow their businesses and make an impact in Hong Kong and beyond. You’ll find links below to shop each brand.
Founded by Laura Williamson, Plantdays is a community driven eco-conscious marketplace for local, woman-owned sustainable brands. With a mission to prove that sustainability is sexy and that it’s the FUTURE. They offer the coolest carefully curated selection of ethical + sustainable products from small, independent and emerging brands all together in one place. It’s a “one-stop-shop” for the mindful consumer.
More than just a brand, they are also leading the way in building community here in Hong Kong, connecting their brands and customers through immersive experiences. DIY workshops, intimate discussions, plant based brunches + dinners, wellness workshops, pop-up marketplaces, and sustainable street parties- they’ve thought of everything!
We’re also excited to share that Plantdays has Purpose and Impact baked into the core of what they do! They’ve partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for EVERY purchase in their shop.
Following the success in the first month of their first ever retail store, Plantdays is extending their Pop-Up Retail Store at PMQ until 31st March. The store will continue carrying and adding an array of new ethical and sustainable products from small, independent woman-owned local brands, and will also host weekly DIY workshops, food tastings, sip & shop events, live stylings, and more!
When: January 29th to March 31st
Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday 11am to 8pm
Where: Shop S311, PMQ, Block A, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central, Hong Kong
Co-founders Amy and Christina launched TOASST to open up the world of wine to those who want to “live, learn and wine better.” TOASST delivers a sommelier experience right to your door in eco-friendly packaging. Their wine club gives exclusive access to wines not typically available at retail and is flexible with Monthly or Quarterly subscription options. You can choose a mixed box of red and white (a WELL, favourite) or simply choose all red or all white. We have been so impressed by the constantly changing selection of unique wines, helping us expand our palettes and knowledge of wine each month! Every box also contains a tasting guide to help with food parings and gives you a virtual wine tasting experience at home.
They’ve also recently been hosting virtual wine tastings to connect wine lovers with the winemakers, and plan to continue to find ways to build community within the wine enthusiasts here in Hong Kong and abroad!
Magdalena is a Polish contemporary abstract artist based in Hong Kong. She uses resin to replicate the beauty of nature and an explosion of colour through the aerial perspective on her paintings. Each piece that she creates is unique and one of a kind. We are in love with her use of the colour blue and the details and layers in her work.
Magdalena has also recently launched her “share the love” collection in which a percentage of every sale goes to The Hub Hong Kong– a registered charity in Sham Shui Po, one of the poorest districts in Hong Kong, offering a space where underprivileged kids can learn, develop and grow healthily and happily despite adverse living conditions.

HULA is an e-commerce consignment platform for pre-owned designer womenswear with 5000 unique pieces from 1000 brands in new or hardly worn conditions, ranging from Chanel, Celine, Dior, Hermes, Louis Vuitton and more.
HULA was founded by Sarah Fung, born and raised in the UK. A graduate from Central St Martins College, Sarah had her own lingerie label in London selling to high end stores worldwide. When she ended her business, she was surprised to be offered a job at Lane Crawford and jumped at the chance to move to Hong Kong (where her family were from and where she barely spent time as a child). Whilst working there, she started to realise how much waste there was in the industry, not only from the retail side; where a product would have a few months shelf-life before hitting ‘sale’, but also amongst friends and colleagues who would constantly buy new items yet complain about the lack of wardrobe space… and so HULA was born! Having experienced both sides of the industry, Sarah understands the effort that goes into one piece; from design, production to market, making it HULA’s mission to help prolong the life of well-designed fashion pieces and help reduce fashion waste – one of the most polluting industries worldwide.
HULA launched Hong Kong’s very first pre-owned warehouse space in Wong Chuk Hang giving customers an online and offline experience. Watch this space for news and upcoming HULA events! lots of exciting things are coming very soon! Follow Hula on IG at @joinhula

Anthea Cooper launched her jewelry brand in 2018. The first collection, ‘floral escape’ was inspired by inlaid stones in floral mosaics, Indian archways and nature. The next collection, launching in March, is inspired by an Indian tile she fell in love with. A lover of semi-precious stones, she uses them throughout her designs to remind women of their own natural beauty and to feel confident to have fun with how they dress by designing contemporary jewelry that is versatile and timeless.
Anthea Cooper has lived in Hong Kong for the past 5 years. She was inspired to launch her own business here by meeting like-minded entrepreneurial women in business, to the many jewelry shows and retail popup opportunities. Growing up in Australia with Anglo Indian parents, she had fond memories of her mother sharing and gifting treasured jewelry. Jewelry is huge part of Indian culture. After leaving Australia 13 years ago, Anthea started exploring her passions and did various courses before settling on jewelry design at Gemblas in the Philippines.
After spending a few years designing and testing designs, learning more about semi- precious stones, finding the right suppliers and exploring what kind of jewelry she wanted to be known for, Anthea Cooper’s jewelry brand finally came to life 2 years ago.

Retykle is an innovative luxury resale e-commerce platform enabling parents to buy designer children’s clothing at a fraction of their retail price. The first of its kind in Asia, Retykle removes the traditional hassle of peer to peer childrenswear trade, benefiting both your wallet and the environment.
Sarah Garner, Founder of Retykle, worked in luxury fashion for over 10 years and wanted to apply her experience to a side of the industry with purpose and positive impact.
“Retykle (a mash-up of Recycle + Tyke) was born out of personal experience facing the problem of hundreds of items of outgrown clothes with my first child and I wanted to create shared value by recirculating those perfectly useful items to others. It is a universal problem for parents and we’re on a mission to solve it. Our team is passionate about creating a sustainable solution which evolves into an entirely circular model whereby we eliminate waste associated with kids all together.”
