Why Care about giving back?

At WELL, Magazine Asia giving back, especially to those less fortunate, is a crucial part of our purpose.

We’re dedicated to highlighting non-profits making a positive difference in our community and beyond.

We’re particularly focused on helping children, both in Hong Kong and abroad, that aren’t afforded access to a well balanced education.

It’s our belief that many of the gravest issues facing our planet today, can be alleviated by levelling the playing field and supporting missions to combat education inequality. Empowering young people, especially girls, with access to books, schooling and support programs makes a tangible positive impact on the future of the world.

In addition to creating a brighter future for the next generation of leaders, helping young people also helps amplify our connectiveness to humanity and attracts positive energy into our lives.

Founder Emily Kelleher and Jackson Kelleher introduce WELL, Give and give their thoughts on what giving back means to them.

GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

ROOM TO READ

Room to Read is a leading non-profit focused on girls’ education and children’s literacy in Asia and Africa.

Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, Room to Read is creating a world free
from illiteracy and gender inequality. They are achieving this goal by helping
children in low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of
reading, and by supporting girls to build skills to succeed in school and
negotiate key life decisions. They collaborate with governments and other partner
organizations to deliver positive outcomes for children at scale. Room to Read
has benefitted more than 18 million children across 16 countries and 37,000
communities and aims to reach 40 million children by 2025.

WELL, Magazine Asia has two active campaigns with Room to Read:

First, for every advertising package we sell, we donate to sponsor one girl to join their literacy program (value of $50 USD)

Second, we are now raising money to educate 100 girls for a full year of education (value $300/girl). DONATE NOW to double your impact as WELL, GIVE will match your donation!

Never Too Young to Change the Word

Founded in 2010, Kids4Kids is a Hong Kong registered charity that offers programs and service opportunities that bridge the gap across all education, community and language backgrounds, building connections that allow children and youth to learn, grow and become changemakers.

Working with low-resource schools and students in Hong Kong, Kids4Kids’ primary school programs inspire creativity and imagination while strengthening key language, communication and digital skills.  Kids4Kids’ secondary school programs offer a transformational journey for young people, identifying personal strengths and developing critical life-skills including confidence, resilience and entrepreneurship.

Since the beginning, over 24,000 students participated in Kids4Kids’ programs with the help of 30,000 volunteers from across Hong Kong.  Kids4Kids’ programs and service opportunities align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals towards a better future for all.

WELL, Magazine Asia is proud to be partnering with Kids4Kids with an Impact Cinema and Panel Discussion to dive into the topic of cyberbullying.

The HUB Hong Kong

The Hub Hong Kong is a registered charity in Sham Shui Po, one of the poorest districts in Hong Kong, offering a space where underprivileged kids can learn, develop and grow healthily and happily despite adverse living conditions.  Founded in 2012 by two Australians, David Boehm and Bruce Stinson, long-time residents in Hong Kong, they believe that children hold the key to the future and they are committed to offer the same opportunities to those less privileged in Hong Kong.

Focusing on our four pillars of service – Education, Empowerment, Development and Family Relief, our mission is to enrich, embrace and empower disadvantaged children and youth with equal opportunities to become valuable and contributing members of our community. Our programs offered range from daily homework guidance, language lessons, STEM, recreational activities like music, art, drama, sports to health and wellness, personal counselling and parenting.

We currently care for a community of over 1,000 members annually, including children aged 6-12, youth aged 12-18 and their parents.  Through the services we provide, our members benefit from improvement in academic performance, well-being, self-confidence and better family relationships for a healthier and well-balanced upgrowing.

WELL, Magazine Asia is proud to announce a long-term partnership with The Hub Hong Kong. This year we are sponsoring a private dinner to support their virtual Gala to help raise money and awareness. With Covid-19 restrictions in place this year, they have been unable to plan a Gala at the same scale as they have in past years. Instead, they are relying on a handful of supporters like us to host smaller private gatherings to support the 2020 Virtual Gala.
